SDDMLP implemented by Nationwide Scholarship Programme (NSP) of Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha Students (SEBS), in partnership with Development Project Service Centre (DEPROSC) distributed three-year scholarships to 74 children for education from class Eight through Ten amidst a function in Barabise, Sindhupalchowk. The Scholarship Distribution Program, chaired by Mr. Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha, Chairman of the Construction Committee of the Regional Resource Center of SDDMLP, commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Suraj Dahal, Team Leader of the project. Mr. Prajesh Bikram Thapa, SEBS President, highlighted the programs and objectives of SEBS. Mr. Bhupendra Bilas Pant, NSP National Coordinator, highlighted the SDDMLP objectives. Other speakers were Mr. Yam Bahadur Basnet, Headmaster of the Shree Sarada Ma. Vi., Mr. Padam Bahadur Basnet, Resource Person, Mr. Ramesh Bahadur Shrestha, Ms. Rita Koirala, DEPROSC Program Coordinator. SDDMLP has plans to award another 72 scholarships in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur on June 5, 2004, Saturday. NSP is awarding more than 300 scholarships this year in more than 30 districts. Other components of SDDMLP: training programs to more than 200 participants, establishment of Regional Community Centers with telecenter services and conducting mobile libraries in different routes around Barabise and Mahendranagar covering more than 15 VDC is also envisaged to commence by June. |
